2023 NBA offseason notes that are on my mind.
- With Bruce Brown & Obi Toppin coming to Indiana/Bennedict Mathurin looking to make more noise in his second year, it’s gonna be interesting to see the numbers of these three Pacers by the end of 2023-24.
- San Antonio’s Zach Collins made an under the radar jump last season and will be a free agent in 2024, so hopefully he can keep it up.
- It’s gonna be fun watching Detroit’s Jalen Duren, Utah’s Walker Kessler, and Charlotte’s Mark Williams develop each year and battle for who is the better center (2022 draft class members).
- It would be nice for the Orlando Magic to keep Cole Anthony, Gary Harris, Jalen Suggs, and Caleb Houstan, but with Markelle Fultz, Anthony Black, Jett Howard, and Joe Ingles on the squad, I’d imagine Anthony, Harris, Suggs, or Houstan possibly being mentioned in trade rumors knowing they have so many guards now.
- With their minutes still very unclear heading into 2023-24, I believe that Phoenix’s Bol Bol, Oklahoma City’s Tre Mann, Toronto’s Malachi Flynn, Boston’s Payton Pritchard, and Charlotte’s James Bouknight have to play well going forward.
- I was impressed with the jump New Orleans’ Trey Murphy III, New York’s Quentin Grimes, Washington’s Corey Kispert, Indiana’s Aaron Nesmith, Oklahoma City’s Isaiah Joe, Boston’s Sam Hauser, and Charlotte’s Nick Richards made as players last season. Also, I always thought Minnesota’s Nickeil Alexander-Walker & Utah’s Kris Dunn were solid two way guards, but they had to prove themselves again last year, and surely did that.
- Honestly speaking, watching Charlotte’s Miles Bridges & PJ Washington both have starter & bench roles through the years made me realize just how good the two are. Bridges balled out in 2021-22 while Washington played less minutes that season, but made a statement last year that he can produce in extended minutes.
- I don’t know what Oklahoma City’s plans are for TyTy Washington, but I really hope he finds more clarity/team stability in 2023-24 after barely playing with Houston.
