Kyrie Irving stands as a fan and an utmost believer in Russell Westbrook being a revolutionizing figure in the NBA.

In an Instagram story, the Dallas Mavericks star went on to praise Westbrook with a caption that highlights the inspiration made by the future Hall of Famer made to the game of basketball.

Westbrook’s case for being a game-changer is truly evident based on the record books, yet the way he compiled it is considerably a complicated one.

Using his unmatched athleticism, aggressiveness, and overwhelming rigor, Westbrook stuffed the stat sheet and made himself the all-time holder of triple-doubles made in the association, surpassing the great Oscar Robertson back in 2021.

But this style of play from him has often drawn criticism and flak due to lack of collective impact and being a one-sided approach that only favors the benefit of the All-Star. During his prime time reign for the Oklahoma City Thunder, albeit recording groundbreaking triple-double averages in all of 2016-17, 2017-18, and 2018-19, Westbrook wasn’t able to lead the franchise to a postseason advance as they were consistently eliminated in the first round for three-consecutive seasons.

Regardless of the beauty and the flaws his game possesses, there’s truly no doubt that Westbrook ushered this modern era towards an uncomplicated activity to compile a once-complex triple-double finish.
