Lakers’ fans are eagerly waiting for the latest update on Anthony Davis’ potential extension with the team. According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst on The Hoop Collective podcast, there is no immediate deadline for Davis to make a decision, dispelling rumors of an August 5 cutoff. However, the Lakers are expected to make an offer or express their intention to do so within the week.

“There’s no time crunch on that, Anthony Davis has not to make a decision by August 5 or anything. But I do think there is an expectation that the Lakers do make some sort of offer this week, or at least show their intention to make such an offer,” said Windhorst, via HoopsHype.

The 30-year-old power forward currently has a 5-year, $190 million contract with the Lakers, which is set to run through the 2024-25 season. The team is eager to secure Davis for the long term and build around him as a cornerstone of their franchise.

During the 2022-23 season, Davis averaged 25.9 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in just 34 minutes per game. His contributions on both ends of the floor have made him a valuable asset to the Lakers.

The organization’s focus is on presenting a compelling offer that reflects Davis’ status as one of the league’s premier players and secures his place in the Lakers’ history.
