With the amount of talk about the Golden State Warriors will operate Chris Paul, Steve Kerr finally breaks his silence.

Kerr told Shayna Rubin of The Mercury News that they will start determining Paul’s upcoming role to them once the Warriors officially open their training camp for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

He also expressed his optimism that their new-look system with the future Hall of Famer will work harmoniously

“All of that will happen in training camp,” Kerr said. “Until we get everyone on the floor, we won’t be able to assess what’s best for our team and how everything is going to look.

“But I’m very confident that it’s going to work out. We got great guys and we got champions, great competitors. There’s one goal next year, and that’s to win at the highest possible level. Everything else will unfold as the season does.”

Paul, 38, was acquired by Golden State this offseason at the expense of sending a package featuring Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards.

As the Dubs already established Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and Kevon Looney as their starting slate, chatter around Paul’s position on the team eventually started when he gave shady responses during his first introductory press conference as a Warrior about the said topic.

This was even amplified when a report floated that Paul indeed secretly desires to insert himself in Golden State’s opening five.

Besides priding himself on being a mainstay in starting lineups throughout his illustrious career, the intents of 38-year-old Paul is considerable given that he wants to maximize his chances to get guaranteed for his 2024-25 salary which will pay him $30MM.

But for now, we can’t ask for a temporary resolution, for now, to stop the debate with this recent statement by Kerr.
