In a recent interview with Justin Termine of SiriusXM NBA Radio, Pelicans General Manager David Griffin addressed the ongoing rumors and reports surrounding Zion Williamson, providing insight into the relationship between the young star and the organization. Termine inquired about the state of the relationship, seeking clarification directly from Griffin.
Griffin responded, stating that the relationship with Williamson is currently strong and that it has improved over time. He mentioned that Williamson would be joining the team to be with his teammates, including Herb Jones, Trey Murphy, and the veterans on the roster. Additionally, Griffin shared that Brandon Ingram, another key player for the Pelicans, would also be joining the team.
“I would say it’s as good as it’s ever been actually,” said Griffin, via HoopsHype. “He’s coming out here to join the team to be with Herb [Jones] and Trey [Murphy] and some of these veterans that are here. Brandon [Ingram]’s gonna come join the team as well. I would say it’s as good as it’s been.”
These comments from Griffin aim to address the speculation and provide reassurance that the relationship between the organization and Williamson is in a positive state. Recently NBA insider Brian Windhorst said that there is no relationship between Williamson and the Pelicans.
