The Rockets were considered the most likely destination for James Harden this offseason due to his ties to the city of Houston.

His former teammate Patrick Beverley had said that there is a high chance of him and Harden re-uniting in Houston next season. However, things went the other way.

Harden exercised his player option with the 76ers for next year, while Beverley signed a one-year deal with the same team as well.

According to a league source quoted by Steve Bulpett of Heavy.com, there was interest in the former MVP from the Rockets’ side before Ime Udoka was appointed as the head coach. The source said that the new head coach did not see Harden as the right fit on his team.
