Despite making Deandre Ayton available for trade, the Phoenix Suns see a low level of market demand for the big man, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Wojnarowski detailed in his appearance on The Ryen Russilo Podcast that the Suns have no choice but to proceed in having Ayton back in their camp next year.

“I think the hard part for Phoenix right now is Deandre Ayton’s market is lean. They have to be prepared they’ll have Deandre Ayton back. … They have to prepare for the very likely possibility (Ayton stays). They’ve gone through the marketplace, and I don’t think there’s an obvious deal for Deandre Ayton out there,” Woj stated.

As they were reportedly contemplating their future with Chris Paul, the Suns emerged and also looked for trade partners around Ayton.

As such, it is yet to be seen if there’s any team that will entertain a trade that will fit the asking price of the Suns. Despite averaging 18 points and 10 boards in 58.9 percent shooting last regular season, Ayton has been underwhelming for the Suns and occasionally posting up disappointing numbers with the talent he possesses as a former top overall pick.

Thankfully enough, new head coach Frank Vogel has been confident about elevating Ayton’s case as one of the best centers in the league. Vogel’s desire to further hone Ayton could allow Phoenix to seize the potentially increased market interest of the big man soon.

The upcoming 2023-24 campaign is truly critical for the Suns as they continue to aim for that elusive title by trying to position themselves for the best possible opportunities to win.
