Here’s a few quotes from Orlando Magic guard Markelle Fultz discussing his short stay as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.
(via Knuckleheads with Quentin Richardson & Darius Miles):
On Sixers tenure and wanting to help the team win: “I had my support and stuff like that, and I’m thankful for the Sixers organization and everything they did for me, but I don’t know, it was a weird situation. I understand that it’s a business and I understand now the business and in and outs of everything. So I was just thankful to be able to be moved somewhere where I had a second chance and an opportunity to grow. They wanted to win. I wish I had a chance to help them because I really feel like I could have helped them win if they were patient and let me get healthy, but at the same time, I’m thankful for everything that they did for me and everything worked out good.”
On how he could’ve made the game easier for Ben Simmons & Joel Embiid: “They wanted Ben [Simmons] to have that ball, man. And the thing is, I feel like I could have helped Ben a lot because I can create for him where he can just come downhill, he don’t gotta dribble, he’s coming off, easy buckets. I’m getting Joel [Embiid] easy buckets. Even with them going under, I’m getting Joel the easiest points he’s probably getting. Easy dump offs, stuff like that. So I realized it’s about situation as well. You have some coaches that put guys in a certain box, and they can do way more. So it just didn’t work out, it wasn’t what they had planned, and it was cool.”
