The Celtics came up short from last year’s accomplishment as they failed to reach the NBA Finals. Boston lost to the Heat in seven games of the Eastern Conference Finals.

In the crucial Game 7 the Celtics made just 21% of their three-pointers (39% field goals). Boston took 42 three-point attempts against Miami’s 28.

According to Boston’s rookie head coach Joe Mazzulla, poor three-point shooting was the main problem for his team. He did not think that the Celtics relied on their shots from beyond the arc too much.

“We shot 21% from three. Defense was still there,” Mazzulla said when asked why his team changed after the first 6 minutes of game. The coach was then asked if the Celtics were too reliant on three-pointers. “No,” was his response.
