Carmelo Anthony – 10-time NBA All-Star and one of basketball’s greatest scorers – announced yesterday that he is retiring from the sport. The Denver Nuggets power forward Jeff Green thinks the Nuggets should retire Anthony’s number.
“I hope they are able to retire both of their jerseys,” Green said. “Nikola and Carmelo. I know it can be done and it’s deserving for what he has done for the franchise … Melo really put [the Nuggets] on the map again. I really hope they can come to an understanding so that can happen.”
In 2009, Anthony guided Denver to its first Western Conference Finals appearance since 1985 where they were eliminated by the eventual champions, the Los Angeles Lakers.
