The Los Angeles Lakers are heading to the Western Conference Finals after a convincing Game 6 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Friday night. Lakers general manager, Rob Pelinka, spoke highly of the Warriors organization and their impressive players after the game, emphasizing the resilience and growth of his team.
“It’s amazing. The Warriors classy organization, obviously, defending champs. You want to give them respect for great series. They have incredible players,” Pelinka said in a postgame interview. “I think the early season trials have really built our strength and fortitude as a group. I think it in some ways brought us together. Obviously, added new players but they felt the togetherness and the competitive nature of this team.”
The Lakers’ journey to the conference finals has been anything but smooth. The team started the season 2-10 and found themselves in 13th place in February. However, the Lakers made significant moves before the trade deadline, including moving Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley and acquiring Malik Beasley, D’Angelo Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt, among others.
The Lakers will now face the top-seeded Denver Nuggets in the conference finals, a team that finished the regular season with a league-best 53-29 record.
