The Knicks were able to stay alive in the Eastern Conference Semifinals with a win over the Heat in Game 5. One of the key players for the Knicks was RJ Barrett, who had an impressive performance with 26 points and 7 rebounds.
The Knicks were down 3-1 in the series after losing the previous two games against the Heat. However, they were able to rally and come out strong in Game 5, winning 112-103. Alongside Barrett, Jalen Brunson scored 38 points and Julius Randle added 24 points.
After the game, Barrett spoke to the media and expressed the team’s mentality going forward. “We’re fighting for our lives right now,” Barrett said. “This is something that can be done. It’s been done before 13 times. So, we just wanted to focus and try and go get this win tonight. We were able to do that. Now we got to go get one in Miami.”
Indeed, 13 times in NBA history teams have come back from being down 3-1 to win the series, and the Knicks are hoping to become the 14th team to do so. They will face the Heat in Miami for Game 6, and the Knicks will need to win to force a Game 7.
The Knicks will need to replicate their impressive performance in Game 5 if they hope to extend the series. Barrett will surely play a key role in the team’s success, and the Knicks will be relying on him to bring his A-game once again.
