Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic were teammates for two and a half years before the Latvian forward was traded to the Wizards in February of last year.

When the Mavericks first acquired Porzingis, the hopes were that he and Doncic would form a star duo. However, the two players never reached that level of success together.

“I thought so too, for sure,” Porzingis said while agreeing that his fit with Doncic wasn’t a perfect one, via Michael Mulford of Sports Illustrated. “Yeah, I don’t know. We never played up to that level. And a lot of it’s on me.”

This past season Porzingis averaged 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 32.6 minutes per game.
