Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards was charged with a third-degree assault upon allegedly swinging a folding chair and hitting two female staffers as he heads directly to the exits following their 112-109 Game 5 elimination loss against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday.

Per Denver Police, it was reported that “while Edwards was walking from the court to the locker room at the conclusion of the game, he swung a folding chair and struck two women who were working at the time. Both women were injured, and at the time it was reported that the injuries were not serious.”

Footages of Edwards’ sprint to leave the court following the defeat were scattered around social media. His swinging of the chair drew mixed reactions from the fans, with some believing that no one was hit.

The Timberwolves, for its part, already issued a statement on Wednesday, noting that they are already aware of the incident revolving around the franchise star.

Based on the mandates of the Colorado law, a third-degree assault carries the punishment of up to 18 months in jail and/or a fine of up to $1,000 in amount.

Edwards and Minnesota are officially eliminated from the Playoffs this year after evading a sweep on Sunday. The All-Star shooting guard averaged 31.6 points, 5.2 assists, 5.0 boards, and 2.0 blocks in five games against Denver.
