76ers guard Jaden Springer had the opportunity to play big minutes in the NBA as the team rested its main players after clinching the third place in the Eastern Conference.

The 20-year-old player, who has been described as having potential to be an elite defender by Doc Rivers, had to guard Trae Young.

While the Hawks star scored game-high 27 points, it was Philadelphia that got the win (136-131). In addition to guarding Young, Springer contributed on the offensive end as well as he scored 19 points in 34 minutes of play.

After the game he talked about being a starter for the Sixers and guarding Young. “It was great. It was fun,” Springer said, via Sam DiGiovanni of ClutchPoints. “That was my first time being able to compete against one of the top guards in this league. I had fun doing that and hopefully, I get more chances like that going forward.”

This was just the 15th NBA game for Springer this season and his first career start. He is averaging 2.8 points, 0.9 rebound and 0.5 assist in 5.8 minutes per game for the 76ers.

Just a few days ago he dropped 43 points in the G League Finals.
