The beef between Devin Booker and Luka Doncic which started during last year’s playoffs continued as the Mavericks faced the Suns.

After the Slovenian superstar missed a game-tying shot, Booker went over to him and said something that caused Doncic to confront his opponent.

Kyrie Irving was asked about the altercation after game. He did not put too much significance on what occurred, saying that as soon as the game is over everybody is hugging.

“You see it from afar it’s definitely different,” the 2016 NBA champion said. “But obviously being out here the level of play rises, emotions rise. I think we see kind of everybody display that on their facial expressions or communicating with the refs, or going back and forth.

“But at the end of the day, I think you’ve heard it enough over our span of being in the league as players or some of those players, nobody’s really going to fight out there. But it seems as though.

“I’m just like ‘Come on, let’s keep playing.’ Those are stoppages in play, rhythms get stopped. I think everyone wants to prove how tough they are on the court. As soon as they step off, everybody’s hugging and brotherhood. So, again, it’s just for the moment in time.

“It’s a great rivalry to be a part of tonight. But the big picture is to win the ball game and we failed that today. So, back to the drawing board.”
