Jonathan Kuminga came off the bench to score 14 minutes of play 23 minutes in the win against the Hornets (110-105).

The sophomore was given a defensive task, but also had one of the better offensive games this season. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr praised the 20-year-old power forward for his performance.

“We went him for his defense,” Kerr said. “He was playing really well defensively and he was guarding LaMelo and just wanted to stay with him because with him because of the impact he was making on the ball and with his energy.

“And he made huge plays defensively. I thought the kid led to a couple of offensive plays. He hit the little floater along the baseline and then he got the dunk from JP that kind of sealed it. So he was rewarded for that defensive effort. I thought he was just brilliant.”

This season Kuminga is averaging 7.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 18.2 minutes per game.
