Jayson Tatum put on a show in Los Angeles as he dropped 44 points for the Celtics in an overtime win over the Lakers (122-118).

He scored 12 of those points in the fourth quarter when Boston made a comeback and added 2 more in overtime.

Lakers legend James Worthy was impressed by the 24-year-old small forward, saying that he hasn’t seen a closer like that since Kobe Bryant.

“It was a classic NBA battle between two rivalries,” he said on Spectrum SportsNet. “It started out the Celtics were really hot, the Lakers had that big comeback, it kept going back-and-forth, back-and-forth.

“The defense got the Lakers back in that game. They got the lead and then the Celtics came back and then it was matter of who’s going to knock down free-throws.

“It was a good game. I’m disappointed that we lost. They were extremely exhausted at the end of regulation after the big comeback and the disappointing misses at free-throw line. I think it took a lot of them.

“Then, when you have Tatum on your team, I haven’t seen a closer like that since … he’s Kobe-like.

“Not having enough gas to hit the free-throws and then the shot selection overtime. We’ve seen this before from the Lakers in overtime where they’re doing a good job to force an overtime and then all of a sudden they just didn’t have enough at the end and then the young Celtic legs took over in overtime.”
