Miami Heat guard Victor Oladipo can’t offer any timetable yet regarding his return from knee issues, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. Oladipo is only about to play his season debut for the Heat.
“Just time will tell,” Oladipo said about his progress from his injury. “When I feel right and everybody’s on the same page, then I’ll be ready to play.”
Oladipo has suffered from a left knee tendinosis which placed him out of the Heat’s regular season start. He only managed to play during the club’s last two preseason matches.
The former All-Star guard joined the Heat on their current road trip that will last through Monday. He won’t suit up for those games, as head coach Erik Spoelstra noted that his inclusion serves as a “connectivity” with the team.
“He’s making a lot of progress,” Spoelstra said before Wednesday’s game against Toronto Raptors. “But guys that are injured, a lot of your work is by yourself and behind the scenes. This is a good opportunity for him to spend a week with the group and he’ll be able to get enough of his work in, which I think is just good for his emotions and his stability more than anything.”
Oladipo is keeping his head high amid the chaotic injury issues that he battled for the past few years. Mainly due to his rupture quad tendon, he only managed to suit up in 36 regular season games since 2018-19.
“I worked really hard,” Oladipo said. “So sometimes when you work hard, you can overwork. It’s just how life works. But I’m still optimistic, I’m still positive. This is how life works. I’m doing fine. I’m doing better and I’m looking forward to playing.”
Oladipo signed a two-year, $18.2 million contract as a free agent last offseason to remain with the Heat.
