Despite Cam Johnson’s lengthy absence to recover from a successful knee surgery, the Phoenix Suns don’t intend to tap the estranged Jae Crowder.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, there will be no changes about the Suns’ ongoing scenario with Crowder, as “there are no current plans for him to return to the team.”

With Johnson being shelved for one to two months as he recovers from meniscus medication, there were initial murmurs that Phoenix could perhaps look into bringing the veteran back to their lineup. The club stands shorthanded on their personnel at the wing spot with Torrey Craig now assuming a heavier load of responsibility and stapled to start in place.
But with this, it only signals the idea that both sides are pretty much over and ready to move on just to patch things up temporarily.
Crowder has been out of the Suns’ team activities since the start of training camp, waiting for his offseason trade request to finally take place following two seasons in the Valley. This season serves as his contract year, with his three-year slated ro expire next summer.
For its part, Phoenix appears continuing to locate the ideal trade partner. Several teams have already inquired about Crowder’s availability, and it now lies on the asking price of the franchise if they desire to find another enforcer at the forward spot.
There’s still no reason for the Suns to panic as they are currently occupying a top two ranking in the Western Conference at 7-3 record. Thankfully enough, they do possess an available trade asset in Crowder if other upcoming unwanted situations ask an urgent move to execute for.
