The Russell Westbrook revenge tour as the Los Angeles Lakers’ second unit leader continues to be alive and rolling, as head coach Darvin Ham can only be fired up and determined to provide his help.

Following the Lakers’ overtime escape against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, Ham made it known that he intends Westbrook to be in this season’s Sixth Man of the Year conversation. This came up after the former All-star stuffed the stat sheet again as a reserve.

“One of my goals is to get him in the conversation for Sixth Man of the Year, and why not start now?”

In 25 minutes of play against the Pelicans, Westbrook cashed in with 13 points, nine assists and seven boards. Despite the limited role he settled in, the future hall of famer has been flourishing well on his new position in the team.

For the past three games playing as the team’ sixth man, Westbrook is averaging 16.3 points, 7.6 boards, and 6.6 assists – contributing to two wins. These numbers can only tell that the said role is suitable for him in setting up the supporting cogs and leading them in a much needed scoring punch to aid LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

It’s still too early and each team hasn’t breached yet the 10-game mark, but Westbrook potentially winning the award at the conclusion of the season only adds uplifting colors to his legacy and illustrious career – shattering prior generalized beliefs that he is a self-centered cager.
