Panathinaikos have parted ways with coach Dusko Ivanovic following a season that has been below standard by their standards.

Sotiris Manolopoulos will become the team’s interim head coach.

Ivanovic led his team to the Euroleague quarter-finals, but were eventually eliminated by CSKA Moscow in a best-of-five series.

The final straw though came last night when Panathinaikos were on their way to losing to Olympiacos at the OAKA before crowd trouble abandoned the game with seconds left.

The loss to their bitter rivals from across Athens though put Panathinaikos three games behind Olympiacos with the Reds having played a game less.

Olympiacos have also advanced to this year’s Euroleague Final Four, which hasn’t sat well with the Panathinaikos owners.
