After previous and ongoing times of reflection, Udonis Haslem is set to formally declare the next step of his career.
As reported by Heat insider Ira Winderman, Haslem will announce his decision if he’ll continue or not his NBA pro career at his youth camp in Miami on Sunday.
Haslem, 42, is welcome to enter his 19th season in the NBA if he wishes to do so as what Pat Riley and the Heat have secured. A roster spot was already allocated for the veteran if he is interested to play again. Currently, the Heat has 13 players in their rotation out of the standard 15-man in the league.
Following a deep Eastern Conference run with the Heat last season, the Florida native has been heavily contemplating in his future, admitting earlier this week that he has no idea yet if he’ll still return to their lineup.
Haslem has spent his entire career in South Beach, serving as a solid inside presence for them in his youth days. He was pivotal in the franchise’s three NBA championships, while also playing a pivotal sacrificial role to acquire LeBron James and Chris Bosh in the 2010 offseason.
In the late stage of his career, Haslem opted to become the vocal leader off the bench and the primary proponent of the “Culture” for the gritty squad.
