Recently Jaylen Brown was mentioned in Kevin Durant rumors, sparking discussions whether it would be a good idea for the Celtics to part ways with one of their top two stars.

In this context former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins revealed that Boston had an opportunity to trade Brown for James Harden in 2020 but the team’s president Danny Ainge, who is now with the Jazz, had no intention to let go the 25-year-old shooting guard.

“Brown could have been traded for James Harden when he wanted out of the Rockets, wanted out of Houston,” Perkins said on Swagu and Perk, via Asmir Pekmic of spotrskeeda. “Me and Danny had an hour conversation about it, then he said, ‘I ain’t trading Jaylen Brown for James Harden,’ because he knew his value.”

This past season Brown averaged 23.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 33.6 minutes per game as the Celtics went all the way to the Finals where they defeated by the Warriors.
