Taj Gibson believes that the Washington Wizards team he joined has a chance to do something special.

In an interview with NBC Sports Washington’s Chase Hughes, Gibson expressed his optimism that the club will be able contend for a postseason spot.

“I’ve seen they have a young and talented team,” Gibson said. “It’s a sleeper team and I just want to be a part of something special. The NBA is full of ups and downs, but I wanted to go to a place where I can just put my veteran mentorship and whatever I can to add to the team.”

After three seasons of stay in New York, Gibson decided to shift to D.C, inking a one-year contract worth $2.9 million for next season.

As a 13-year veteran, this new situation poses a big challenge. The club wasn’t able to enter the playoffs last season amid a sizzling start.

But with Bradley Beal secured for long-tem, Kristaps Porzingis filling the second option, and Kyle Kuzma ready to operate, the Wizards has to be considered as one of the “must-watch” teams this upcoming 2022-23 campaign.

The Eastern Conference continues to get loaded, but the big man knows that the sky’s the limit for his team in conquering it.

“They have so many talented guys,” he added.  “I’m just a fan of all of them. I’m just lucky enough to be able to say I can go into the gym and get better with these guys, build a bond with these guys. That’s my whole goal.”
