The Houston Rockets have officially waived John Wall, following reports he was set to make an exit this offseason.

According to a league source, per @spotrac, Wall gave up $6.5 million in his buyout.

“From top to bottom, the Rockets organization thanks John for his professionalism and wishes him the best,” the team said, per JD Shaw of Hoopsrumors.com.

Wall joined the Rockets from the Washington Wizards in December 2020, with Russell Westbrook going the other way. The Rockets also got a first-round pick as part of the trade. The point guard was ruled out for the remainder of the NBA season in April 2021 and came to a mutual agreement with the Rockets which bore an understanding that he would sit out for the entirety of the 2021/22 season.

It’s rumored he’s now poised to join the Los Angeles Clippers.
