Unforgettable NBA Moments That We Can’t Stop Thinking About

The NBA is one of the most exciting, fast-paced, and high adrenaline sporting leagues on the planet.

Shocking, mind-blowing, and hilarious things happen so frequently in the NBA that we could pick any week from this season and make a Top 10 moments list.

Today, we are going to look at 10 of the greatest moments from the NBA of all time – ones that broke the internet went viral and sent fans wild.

We thought that this was the perfect time to look at past events of the NBA as the 2022 Playoffs are almost upon us – find the best NBA Odds here.

#1 – The Shot

This moment happened in 1989 – during the real heat of the Jordan-Thomas Rivalry.

Of course, this moment involves Micheal Jordan, he was just that kind of playmaker. This was a Chicago Bulls vs Cleveland Cavaliers Eastern Conference Playoffs match.

MJ made a jumping mid-range shot over the top of the defender’s head, which won the Bulls the match.

This match happened 33 years ago, and it still goes viral.

#2 – The 100 Point Game

This event happened long before the Internet was invented – but every time we see a compilation of it we have to share it. This achievement has not been bested or even replicated.

There has only been a single game where a player scored 100 points in the NBA – that game happened on March 2, 1962, and the player was Wilt Chamberlain.

The whole game ended 169–147 to the Philadelphia Warriors.

#3 – The Block

Let’s talk about something a little more recent – 2016 to be exact.

Cleveland Cavaliers fans were incredibly unfair to LeBron James during the 2016 season especially considering the fact that he took them to the NBA Finals.

The Cavaliers had gone 73-9 down against the Warriors in the final. James and Irving had worked hard to bring the team back into the game.

Then in the final two minutes, James blocked a shot from Andre Iguodala – in the end, it was this save that won the team the championship.

#4 – The Tim Donaghy Scandal

We cannot think of another moment in a professional sport during the last century where a professional referee has been caught fixing matches.

Yet, in 2007, the FBI started to investigate referee Tim Donaghy, who was found to not only be fixing games but betting on the games he was officiating.

NBA referees are paid well to help them avoid the temptation of doing this, so we are not sure what Tim Donaghy needed the money for…

#5 – The Dallas Mavericks Scandal

The internet was shocked when it came out in 2018 that over 225 members of staff working for the Dallas Mavericks and one of its foundations had admitted to being involved in incidents of assault.

Some even mentioned that they had been pressured into keeping silent about the practices and were asked not to talk to the press.

#6 – Brad Miller Swings At Shaq

While lots of people admit that there is no place in professional basketball for fights breaking out on the court. We will be the first to admit that we do find it entertaining when people start swinging.

One of the most shocking fights took place in 2002 when Brad Miller started randomly swinging at Shaq. Thankfully, Shaq missed when he swung back at Miller…

#7 – Foreman Vs Clutch The Bear

While player vs player fights are always entertaining – there is nothing more scandalous than mascots and fans getting into fights.

Although this moment was staged, it doesn’t make it any less entertaining. At a Rockets Vs Bucks match in 2017, the camera caught Rockets mascot Clutch the Bear entering the stadium dressed as a boxer.

Clutch made a bee-line for former heavyweight champion of the world George Foreman who was sitting in the front row. After squaring up with each other, Foreman knocked Clutch to the ground with a single punch.

#8 – The 81 Point Game

We talked about Chamberlain’s 100 point game, but we should also talk about the late, great Kobe Bryant’s 81 point game.

He did this in the 2005 Lakers vs Raptors game, this game made him the second-highest point scorer in a single game – ever.

#9 – Micheal Jordan Returns (For The First Time)

After winning the NBA championship for the first time in a row, Jordan had announced that he would be leaving the NBA.

His announcement of his return was a masterclass in PR and has been copied by so many since. The Bulls and Jordan put out a two-word press release.

“I’m Back.”

#10 –  Title Saving Block

Our final internet-breaking moment for today is the moment when Giannis Antetokounmpo saved the title hopes of the Bucs by blocking Deandre Ayton’s shot.

This happened during Game 4 of the 2021 NBA Finals. Antetokounmpo went on to put in a game-winning performance again in Game 6.
