Tristan Thompson will join the Eastern Conference leaders, Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle announced after the win over the Washington Wizards. The 30-year-old forward will sign with the Chicago Bulls after getting waived by Indiana.

“I don’t mind announcing it because it’s going to happen and what the heck,” Carlisle said, per ESPN. “There’s nothing wrong with speaking the truth

“It’s the rare instance where you get to thank a guy in the presence of his teammates. And these guys have an awful lot of respect for who he is and what he’s accomplished in the league.”

The 2016 NBA champion joined the Pacers via a trade from the Kings before the trade deadline. He played four games for Indiana, averaging 7.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per game.

His season average, including games that he played for Sacramento, is 6.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in 15.3 minutes per game.
