Charlotte Hornets hoped to generate some momentum after their blowout win against the Detroit Pistons on Friday. However, their start in the game vs Memphis was not ideal as they allowed the visitors to take a 21-point in the first quarter.

The Hornets were able to come back from a Grizzlies’ 35-point lead in the second half after head coach James Borrego elected to go with a bigger lineup that included JT Thor, Mason Plumlee, Montrezl Harrell, Lamelo Ball and Terry Rozier.

“I do wanna play bigger and more physical right now,”Borrego said in the post-game presser and continue praising JT Thor for his energy coming off the bench.

“He found his way to impact this game and he’s got my full attention right now. I love his length, his size, his instinct, his defensive tenacity” Borrego said on Thor.

The Hornets were six games above .500 a few weeks ago, but they have struggled with their shooting of late. They started Saturday’s contest with making just one of their first 16 shots.

Memphis extended the lead to 35 late in the second quarter, dominating the Hornets in the paint. That was the sixth consecutive game Charlotte dropped at home.

”I don’t know if it is a road-home thing or whatever. We just have to play better, that is the bottom line,” Borrego said. ”We have a number of home games the rest of the way and we have to play better and get off to better starts.”

The Hornets have two more games before the All-Star break starting against Minnesota on Tuesday. They will end the first part of the season against Miami on Friday.
