Real Madrid met UNICS Kazan prior to EuroLeague Round 23 in a postponed game of Round 19. The “Whites” dominated the red-hot UNICS achieving an 85-68 win to improve to 17-3 and remain atop of the standings.
Pablo Laso and co. grabbed an important win thanks to Walter Tavares double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Guerschon Yabusele added 13 points, Alberto Abalde scored 12 and Sergio Llull had 11 in an incredible all-around performance from Real Madrid.
UNICS remained in the game for the first quarter (21-14), before Madrid explodes to 53-31 run in the next two quarters and take a 74-45 at the start of the fourth.
Lorenzo Brown with 13 points and eights assists tried his best, Tonye Jekiri also scored 13, however, this was not enough for UNICS Tuesday night.
Maccabi Tel Aviv was able to celebrate its second consecutive win in EuroLeague in an entertaining Round 20 make-up game on Tuesday night. Maccabi took an 87-78 win over ALBA Berlin to improve to 9-11, while the German club dropped to 6-14.
The Israeli team made an 8-0 run at the end of the fourth quarter to move 65-48 ahead. ALBA answered with its big run to cut the deficit to five points (69-64) early in the fourth quarter. However, Maccabi was able to hold their opponents and complete the game.
Scottie Wilbekin guided the hosts with 18 points and 6 assists, while Derrick Williams added 16, Jalen Reynolds and Ante Zizic both scored 14. Luke Sikma scored 12 and Yovel Zoosman added 10 against his former club for the Bundesliga champions.
FC Bayern Munich was able to get a wire-to-wire 68-77 victory in France against LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne and get in the playoff picture, improving to 10-11. ASVEL dropped to 9-12 in a Round 18 make up game.
Augustine Rubit shined with 17 points plus 10 rebounds. Ognjen Jaramaz netted 11, while Andreas Obst scored 10 for the winning side. ASVEL never got closer than 8 points in the game, despite the efforts of Chris Jones (14 pts) and Youssoupha Fall (14 points).
Bayern Munich will face Bundesliga rivals ALBA Berlin on Friday to close a crucial week for them regarding the playoff race in the 2021-22 EuroLeague regular season.
