FC Bayern Munich will have to face their former starting point-guard Friday night as they’ll try to bounce back from a 78-83 defeat vs AS Monaco Basket.
The Bavarian saw Wade Baldwin IV leading his team to a 76-81 win in Audi Dome, as the former Vanderbilt University guard scored a season-best 30 points.
“Baskonia is almost a different team at the Buesa Arena, where they play with even more energy and tempo,” head coach Trinchieri said. “They destroyed Barcelona at home and also proved the quality and depth of their squad in the first game against us. But I’m confident we’ll present ourselves differently this time.”
The Spanish club is coming off a loss at the hands of Real Madrid, and has yet to add to its winning column during 2022. Bayern has only won one of their last five games in the EuroLeague.
“Baskonia is a very strong team at home. We definitely want to do much better than in the first matchup, which was certainly one of our worst performances. Above all, we have to stop their transition game,” said Vladimir Lucic.
In a battle between two teams trying to reach the upper half of the standings, Bayern (8-11) will try to takes its revenge against an improved Baskonia (7-12) team.
