It may seem to be that the rift is fading, but the latest one provides a further problem that adds to the burden of the City of Brotherly Love.
The Philadelphia 76ers are disgruntled on Ben Simmons’ unwillingness to accept the team’s assistance to address his mental readiness to play, sources told ESPN.
“There has been frustration mounting, according to people close to the situation, that Ben has not been accepting any of the help the team has offered him, in terms of helping him with his mental readiness,” ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne told NBA Today this Tuesday.
“He has been working with mental health professionals through the Players’ Association, but thus far I’m told he hasn’t really kept the team in the loop on that.”
Two weeks ago, it was reported that Simmons met head coach Doc Rivers and his teammates, saying that he is not mentally ready yet to play.
It was then followed by a bad impression, as the point forward was kicked out of practice after not engaging in mandatory drills.
This complicated saga between Simmons and the Sixers is poised to continue further with perhaps no end in sight, as the two remain having differences that are difficult to address.
