Ime Udoka will make his head coaching debut with the Boston Celtics this season, and he may be moving towards a surprising direction regarding his rotation.
While many assumed Robert Williams’ $54 million extension this past summer meant a guaranteed starting front-court role, that might not be what is in the cards for Udoka.
According to Jay King of The Athletic, the rookie head coach sees veteran Al Horford as the potential starting big for the Boston Celtics this season.
Horford made a comeback season with the OKC Thunder last year, after a disappointing stint with the Philadelphia 76ers. During his years with the Cs, Horford usually played alongside Aaron Baynes.
Last season, the veteran big appeared in 28 games for Oklahoma City, averaging 14.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest.
