Philadelphia 76ers seem to be in a tough spot considering the trade rumors around Ben Simmons, as the three-time All-Star is reportedly not bluffing in his threat to sit out training camp.

According to Jon Krawczynski (via Hoopshype) of The Athletic, everyone in the NBA believes the Sixers “cannot afford to hold onto” Simmons, after making known that he does not want to be part of the team.

Simmons’ value is in an all-time low, after his performances during the past postseason, where the 76ers lost to the Hawks in the second round of the playoffs. The All-Star guard finished the playoffs with 34 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

At the top of that, the Sixers did not help the situation afterwards, as Joel Embiid and Doc Rivers both helped amp up the flames of criticism by laying some of the blame for the Sixers’ second-round exit at Simmons.

Considering the ‘all-in’ situation Philadelphia is at, the franchise can not afford to lose an All-Star talent, without getting back meaningful compensation.
