Only time will tell what the Los Angeles Lakers starting five will look like. Three players are guaranteed to starters, namely LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook.

It appears that there is a favorite to take the starting shooting guard position. According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, the Lakers signed Wayne Ellington “potentially to be their starting shooting guard.”

For the 33-year-old shooting guard, it will be his second spell wearing the purple and gold. His first time playing for the Lakers was back in the 2014-2015 season. This past season, Ellington was with the Detroit Pistons averaging 9.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
