2021 Salt Lake City Summer League took place on August 3rd, 4th and 6th at Vivint Arena. 

The Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs and two Utah Jazz teams played 3 games each out in Utah.

Memphis Grizzlies

Desmond Bane: Bane is coming off making All-Rookie Second Team last season. We already knew he can score and rebound, but he displayed improved playmaking abilities in Utah, averaging 3.5 assists per game. 19.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG (2 games played)

Xavier Tillman: The 22-year-old brought high energy on both ends in his 2 games of action. Rebounding and defense were solid, as Tillman also averaged 2 steals per game. 12.5 PPG, 9.0 RPG (2 games played)

Shaq Buchanan: Buchanan’s three point shooting was one of the best at Salt Lake City Summer League. He’s hoping to get some time with the Grizzlies after being with the Memphis Hustle since 2019. 10.3 PPG, 41.2% 3-PT (3 games played)

Sean McDermott: McDermott was able to play in 18 games during his rookie year in Memphis. Doesn’t need to score to make an impact on the game. 11.5 PPG, 3.0 APG (2 games played)

Killian Tillie: Made the right passes and rebounded. Feel for the game continues to get better with more experience. 9.0 PPG, 3.5 RPG (2 games played)

John Konchar: Konchar stuffed the stat sheet out in Utah. Also averaged 5.0 APG/2.0 SPG/3.5 BPG. 5.0 PPG, 9.0 RPG (2 games played)

Yves Pons: Undrafted rookie out of Tennessee with versatile skills on both ends. Ran the floor hard, blocked shots and hit his three pointers. 7.0 PPG, 42.9% 3-PT (3 games played)

Ahmad Caver: Caver finished second in assists per game at the Salt Lake City Summer League. He’s coming off averaging 16.5 points per game in the G-League last season. 9.7 PPG, 5.3 APG (3 games played)

Keaton Wallace: The former University of Texas at San Antonio product stood out in his one game for Memphis. Wallace went 3 of 6 from three point range vs. Utah Jazz White. 17 points, 3 steals (1 game played)

San Antonio Spurs

Devin Vassell: The second year Spur led the Salt Lake City Summer League in points per game. Also finished top 5 in rebounds per game. 20.5 PPG, 8.0 RPG (2 games played)

Josh Primo: Primo looked confident both with the ball in his hands and on the defensive end. Definitely played like a lottery pick in Utah. 14.0 PPG, 1.0 BPG (2 games played)

DaQuan Jeffries: Didn’t shoot the ball well, but certainly defended at a high level. Averaged 2.7 steals per game on defense. 6.3 PPG, 5.7 RPG (3 games played)

Jaylen Morris: Former Atlanta Hawk and Milwaukee Buck with valuable pro experience under his belt. Shot 70.2% from the field in 6 G-League games last season. 6.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG (3 games played)

Utah Jazz White 

Trent Forrest: Forrest looks like he can step up and make an impact off the bench for Utah in 2021-2022. He led the Salt Lake City Summer League in assists and also averaged 2 steals per game. 14.3 PPG, 9.0 APG (3 games played)

Udoka Azubuike: The soon to be 22 year old has strength like few big men in the NBA. Shot a lights out 87.0% from the field in 3 games. 13.7 PPG, 10.7 RPG (3 games played)

Jarrell Brantley: Brantley’s energy helped the Utah Jazz White club to a 3-0 record. Also averaged 4.7 rebounds per game and shot 90.0% from the free throw line. 13.0 PPG, 1.3 SPG (3 games played)

Juwan Morgan: The big man always makes the most of his playing time by keeping the game simple. Blocked 1 shot per game in 3 games. 6.7 PPG, 6.3 RPG (3 games played)

Dakota Mathias: Mathias displayed solid versatility in his 8 games with the 76ers last season. Takes the right shots, defends and can pass. 10.7 PPG, 3.7 RPG (3 games played)

Matt Mooney: Mooney’s efficiency was very productive off the bench. The former Texas Tech Red Raider shot 66.7% from the field. 4.3 PPG, 1.0 SPG (3 games played)

Devonte Green: Shooter with ball handling skills. Coming off a nice season in the Greek Basket League. 6.0 PPG, 40% 3-PT (3 games played)

Paul White: Only averaged 13.9 minutes per game, but made the most of his action. White shot 58.3% from the field. 5.7 PPG, 5.0 RPG (3 games played)

Utah Jazz Blue

MaCio Teague: Teague’s performance in Salt Lake City made it hard to believe he went undrafted. The 2021 national champion at Baylor also averaged 1 steal per game on defense. 15.3 PPG, 40.0% 3-PT (3 games played)

Malik Newman: Newman’s scoring ability can definitely fit in with an NBA team if he gets the chance. Shooter who can get going when he’s making shots. 9.7 PPG, 3.0 RPG (3 games played)

DJ Funderburk: Funderburk was very active around the rim, averaging 1 blocked shot per game. Big man with a great basketball IQ. 8.3 PPG, 1.0 SPG (3 games played)

Justin Patton: Since entering the NBA back in 2017, Patton is still waiting on a meaningful role for a team. He clearly has the skills to give solid minutes on both ends off the bench. 6.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG  (3 games played)

Jarell Martin: Martin spent time with Memphis and Orlando from 2015-2019. Can always be counted on to play hard. 8.0 PPG, 4.7 RPG (3 games played)

Joe Chealey: Scoring ability stood out in short minutes. Chealey appeared in 5 games with the Charlotte Hornets from 2018-2020. 8.5 PPG, 60% FG (2 games played)

Shaqquan Aaron: Aaron finished top 5 in rebounding in just 15.3 minutes per game of action. Athlete with versatile skills. 2.0 PPG, 8.5 RPG (2 games played)
