Team USA stormed past Australia in the semi-final of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games to earn a place in the gold medal game. The Americans will face either France or Slovenia in the Final. After the win over Australia, head coach Gregg Popovich was asked by a journalist which opponent he would prefer to face in the gold medal game.
“You really think I’m going to answer that question? How long have you been a reporter? You must be talking to some dumb coaches,” Popovich responded, per Ben Golliver. “I wouldn’t touch that with a 10-foot pole. You’ve got to be kidding.”
France defeated USA in group stage which was the only loss so far for the Americans in these Olympics. Both France and Slovenia marched to the semi-finals without any defeats.
