Atlanta Hawks rookie Onyeka Okongwu has undergone right shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum, the team announced.

Okongwu was a big part of the Hawks’ rotation during the playoffs, helping his team reach the Eastern Conference Finals.

This timeline would have Okongwu missing a decent chunk of next season, which is scheduled to begin Oct. 19. The promising big is expected to enter a period of rest and rehabilitation. He will make a full recovery in six months.
