Devin Booker considered Kobe Bryant a mentor early in his career, with the comparison being unavoidable after his excellent playoff run with the Phoenix Suns.

During Booker’s rookie season, Kobe had some words of wisdom which he wrote on the 24-year-old’s shoes that said, “Be legendary.” The Suns’ star even has a tattoo of the same on his hand.

Recently, television personality and ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith called Booker the next Kobe Bryant, which had veteran point guard and Lakers legend Magic Johnson agreed to it as well.

However, when asked about this comparison, the Suns’ superstar felt he should never be compared to the great Kobe Bryant.

Booker has a monster playoff debut with the Phoenix Suns, leading the team to its first NBA Finals’ appearance since 1993.

The All-Star guard is averaging 27.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 21 postseason games. The Suns will fight for the chances to send the NBA Finals vs. Milwaukee to Game 7 Tuesday night after going down 3-2 in the series.
