Giannis Antetokounmpo talks on his knee issue: “Obviously it’s a little bit frustrating but at the end of the day you gotta do what you gotta do”

Giannis Antetokounmpo has come back from the longest absence of his career as he missed the six games of the Milwaukee Bucks, before Thursday’s contest vs. Atlanta.

The back-to-back MVP talked on his knee issue, how difficult was for him to play through pain and what’s in store for the future regarding the injury.

“I think this is the first time in my career I kind of took it well because I was in pain. I was like OK, you want me to sit out a game, I’ll sit out a game. But then it was a second game and third game and the fourth game and then you start getting frustrated. Then the Minnesota game, I was ready to play, you know? But at the end of the day they’re going to make the decision best for my health and I just got to listen.

He then explained the knee pain is not a new experience for him as he dealt with it the last three seasons. Although, Antetokounmpo admitted it’s mentally tough to lose games, he got to follow the process to remain healthy.

“It was hard. It takes a lot. Just feeling pain and you know, being sore before the game, it just wears on you mentally right? But it’s a process. I just gotta do what I gotta do every day to take care of my knee, stay healthy, recover the right way.

It’s just extra. I think the last two, three years I was doing that for my right knee and it was a lot, but I was always getting the job done.”
