Recently, there were calls from the likes of Kyrie Irving to change the NBA logo from a silhouette of Jerry West to that of Kobe Bryant in order to commemorate the late Lakers superstar. However, the league feels that this is not the appropriate moment to do that.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said there are “no ongoing discussions” about changing the logo, per Andrew Greif of Los Angeles Times. Silver also called the current logo ‘iconic’.

Additionally, he mentioned that a tribute was paid to Kobe by renaming the All-Star Game MVP award after him. “I appreciate the sentiments but it feels like the logo is appropriate right now,” Silver said.
