After a 105-101 overtime victory over Italy, Estonia took an important step in moving closer to advancing to the FIBA EuroBasket 2022.
Italy made it a one-point game with 4.4 seconds left in overtime, but Henri Drell hit a dagger three-pointer to seal the win for Estonia.
Estonia had a 22-point lead in the second half and was up 82-66 after three quarters, but Italy came storming back to send the game to overtime.
Estonia was led by 24-year-old Maik-Kalev Kotsar, who scored 32 points on 15-of-22 shooting from the field.
Drell, 20, finished the game with 12 points, five of them coming in the last minute of overtime, including the clutch shot to close out the game.
Kaspar Treier, 21, finished with 17 points and led the team in rebounds with six.
Italy still sits in first place in Group B with a record of 4-1 and is already qualified to FIBA EuroBasket 2022 as a host.
With the win, Estonia improved to 2-2, good for third place in the group.
Estonia has two games left against Russia on Feb. 21 and North Macedonia on Feb. 22, while Italy has one game left against North Macedonia on Feb. 21.
