Minnesota Timberwolves guard D’Angelo Russell will undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose body in his left knee and is expected to miss four-to-six weeks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
It’s another tough blow to a team that has already dealt with several injuries and COVID-19 health and safety protocols this season.
Russell has missed the last three games and seven games total with what was described as left leg soreness.
The 24-year-old didn’t travel with the team on their recent two-game road trip.
Ricky Rubio will continue to start in place of Russell, as he is averaging 8.6 points and 7.4 assists in his last five games.
In his first full season with the Timberwolves, Russell is averaging 19.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.
