Wesley Matthews returned to the Los Angeles Lakers’ lineup, after receiving consecutive DNPs. The veteran guard talked about the value of staying focused and keeping the faith in himself and the team.

Matthews returned to the Lakers’ lineup against the Pistons and scored 16 points on 4-out-of-5 shooting from deep. Before Monday’s contest, Matthews missed the past four games of his team.

(via Lakers Nation):

“Just a lot of faith. Keeping the faith. This obviously was something different for me, but I credit my coaching staff for the communication and consistent encouragement, my teammates, my friends, my family. Trusting everything I’ve done up until this point in my career and just staying ready. It’s about being a Laker, being a pro, being the best you can be whenever your name is called. I’m just thankful God allowed us to win and to have a performance like this.”

Matthews is a savvy defender being part of one of the deepest rosters in the league. Frank Vogel preferred a nine-man lineup in the games before the OT showdown vs. Detroit Monday.
