How does it feel to come back to Spain to defend your three-point crown?

I am very excited to come back to Spain. This is a once and a lifetime opportunity that I get to experience twice, and I am grateful very thankful.

Last time nobody knew about you. This year is going to be very different. Do you feel the pressure? Do you feel this year that you have a lot to lose and nothing to gain?

I felt pressure last year. This year is totally different. I feel like I have nothing to lose and a lot to gain this year. Not a lot of people win three-point contest’s 2 times in a row, so that is definitely a challenge, but last year cannot be taken away from me.

Has your life changed since winning last year’s contest? Was it different on the court? Are your defenders giving you special attention?

Life hasn’t changed much. I think that some people look at me and say “That’s the shooter” but other than that, life is the same. However, when I play basketball, people definitely guard me tighter now.

And off the court, have you been more popular in your High School?

I have definitely not been more popular in my high school. People talk about the three point contest and the world record, but other than that, life is pretty normal!

You injured your right hand some weeks ago. How is the recovery? Are you going to be 100% for the contest?

My hand is slowly getting stronger. I still have trouble extending my range to the three point arc, but I think that by the contest I will be able to shoot threes consistently. I don’t think that I will be 100%, but I’m going to give it everything I’ve got.

Have you improved your shooting skills since last year?

I’ve definitely practiced shooting a lot over the last year. I think that I have become a better shooter off the dribble.

Do you born a shooter or do you become a shooter?

You definitely aren’t born a shooter, or at least I wasn’t! I’ve had to take thousands and thousands of shots to get to where I am today, and I will have to take thousands and thousands more shots to get to where I want to be.

How many hours to you practice? What is the training plan that you follow to improve your skills?

I have a specific shooting workout that I go through and it probably takes me about 2 hours. I also do other things such as conditioning and lifting weights, which takes about another hour and a half each day.

This is your senior year in High School. Which university are you chosing for next year? How is the process?

I am still not sure where I am going to college, but hopefully I will know soon. The process of being recruited is very hectic but it is also humbling.

Who would you like to face (and beat) in a three-point contest?

I don’t really know. There is a lot more to basketball than just shooting three pointers. Most of the time, I think about what I can do to improve and than I go practice. I don’t think there is any one person that I would want to shoot against.

Would you like to ever play in Spain or Europe?

I would love to play in Spain or Europe. That is definitely a goal of mine that one day I hope to achieve.
