The New York Knicks are on the short list of viable trade destinations for Houston Rockets’ Russell Westbrook, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

If the Knicks prove that they are willing to absorb the money left on Westbrook’s contract, which is approximately $132 million, “there is a trade to be made”.

Along with the Knicks, the Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers have also been mentioned as possible landing spots for the 32-year-old star.

The Knicks will also more than likely pursue Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet in free agency, as he would be more affordable than Westbrook.

The Knicks have the cap space and desire to get back into the playoffs in the Eastern Conference and they are said to be considering a wide range of possibilities with that projected cap room and their two first round draft picks.
