LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne grabbed its first win of the EuroLeague season by beating Baskonia 86-88 in a thriller ending.

This was the first win of a French team in Vitoria-Gasteiz after 35 years. Also, this was the first victory of ASVEL in this EuroLeague season.

ASVEL had a better opening at the Buesa Arena on Thursday and won the first quarter. But, the home team never gave up, and after 20 minutes the two teams were tied at 43. No one was leading and the winner was decided in the last 12 seconds of the match. Charles Kahudi from ASVEL made both free throws for a score of 85-88.

The home team had 12 seconds on the clock to continue to fight in OT, but Luca Vildoza didn’t score under fault and was only able to set the final result (86-88).

Moustapha Fall, with 19 points and five rebounds (PIR of 28), was the MVP of the match. His teammates Antoine Diot and Charles Kahudi followed with 15 points each. Antoine Diot also had five boards and seven assists (PIR of 23), while Kahudi grabbed six boards. Norris Cole finished the game with 10 points.

For Baskonia, Tonye Jekiri scored 21 (seven rebounds, PIR of 31), Pierria Henry 20 (six assists, PIR of 31), Luca Vildoza 13, and Zoran Dragić 12.
