Dirk Nowitzki opened up about his decision to reject the offer of Steve Nash to join the coaching staff of the Brooklyn Nets.

The NBA and Dallas Mavericks legend, who is very close friends with Nash, said he felt the timing ‘was not right’.

“First of all, I don’t know if I could do it anywhere but here (Dallas Mavericks). Second, I just think the timing is not right. I love being with the family. I’m so over basketball at this point that it wasn’t even a thought for me,” Nowitzki said in an interview with Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.

Nash is getting ready for his head coaching debut in the NBA. The two-time NBA MVP and Hall of Famer signed a four-year contract with the Nets.
