James Harden expressed his optimism on the current Houston Rockets’ squad, claiming they are a piece away from competing for an NBA title.

“It’s very, very frustrating. Especially the amount of work that individually I put in. I’m just gonna keep chipping away… I feel like we’re a piece away,” Harden said after another disappointing postseason run.

The Rockets finished their playoffs presence with four consecutive losses to the Lakers in the WC semifinals, after an impressive start in Game 1.

The Rockets are in a tough position, as they had no draft picks to improve their roster and no space in the salary cap to be able to add another superstar.

On top of that, Mike D’Antoni’s future with the franchise is pretty questionable as of now with his contract expiring this season.
