The race for the eight vs. nine seed play-in game in the Western Conference has come down to the final game for all four teams involved.

The winner of that play-in game will be the eight seed in the playoffs and face the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round.

Due to each team having a different amount of games played, win percentage, not overall record, will determine seeding.

Here’s each team’s scenario for getting the eight or nine seed:

Portland Trail Blazers, 34-39 (.466)
  • No. 8 seed with a win, OR losses by the Memphis Grizzlies, Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs
  • No. 9 seed with a combined two losses from the Suns, Spurs OR Grizzlies

Next game against the Brooklyn Nets

Memphis Grizzlies, 33-39 (.458)
  • No. 8 seed with a win AND Trail Blazers loss
  • No. 9 seed with a win, OR losses by the Suns and Spurs

Next game against the Milwaukee Bucks

Phoenix Suns, 33-39 (.458)
  • No. 8 seed with a win, combined with a Grizzlies loss AND a Trail Blazers loss
  • No. 9 seed with a win, combined with a Grizzlies loss OR a Trail Blazers loss

Next game against the Dallas Mavericks

San Antonio Spurs, 32-38 (.457)
  • No. 8 seed with a win, combined with a Grizzlies loss, a Suns loss AND a Trail Blazers loss
  • No. 9 seed with a win, plus a combined two losses from the Suns, Trail Blazers OR Grizzlies

Next game against the Utah Jazz
